World famous wines from South Africa won thanks to its excellent taste, high quality and unique character.
The starting point in the development of wine production became the XVII century, when the first Governor of the Cape province (now Cape town) were planted vine. And it turned out that the climate and soil of South African land is able to give an excellent drink. Due to the lack of necessary education, newly minted winemakers produce “illiterate” wine, which could hardly compete with famous brands. Everything changed with the arrival of the next Governor Simon van der STEL. He not only knew a lot about good wines, but he made it. Soon the wine became popular far beyond the Cape. A new stage production was the beginning of the XX century: leading South African wine makers have United in the Union (KWV). This cooperative control the quality of the produced wine, have fixed prices and quotas. The success of wine production in South Africa has contributed not only hard work of winemakers, but also by other factors:
- excellent climate and fertile land;
- using the technology of cold fermentation;
- the application of the classification according to the origin of the wine;
- strict control of the export of wine.

Rosendal (Boschendal) is one of the first wineries in South Africa, which was founded in 1685году. The winery is located in the valley of Fangshan, protected mountain ranges. Thanks to the beautiful surroundings, it is very popular among tourists. The vineyards of Rosendal spread of 2.5 km2.
Another “pearl” of the wine industry keeps the region of Stellenbosch Brampton Wines. Although the winery Brenton can boast of such a venerable age as Rosendal (the year of its formation is considered to be 1996) produced its wine is very popular.
Speaking about the wines from South Africa, who can forget the Tall Horse. Why The High Horse? In 1824, a diplomatic gift from the Egyptian Sultan to the king of France was a giraffe. The animal made a huge furor among the French, who called his high horse. It would be a crime not to take advantage of this popularity for marketing purposes. But not a single name.
